The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State has alleged that five it members were arrested alongside seven other persons along games village federal low cost road by the Police.
The party’s House of Representatives candidate from Bauchi local government federal constituency of Bauchi State and present member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Honourable Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi made the allegation recently.
Narrating the incident to Journalists, Hon. Abdullahi said they got approval of all security agencies in the state before the party embarked on the rally they had which ended successfully with no single problem after going round there targeted areas and returned home but unfortunately almost minutes of the rally he was shocked and surprise to hear that the police came and arrested his supporters and stormed one of his houses where he used to hold political meetings and picked his supporters “without committing any offence.”
Abdullahi who described the incident as condemnable alleged that the arrest was masterminded by the state government to intimate and frustrate him and his party members.
He therefore appealed to the Inspector General of Police to call his officers in the state to order and ask them to release the arrested party members and stop further intimidation.
However, when contacted, the spokesperson of the police in the state, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar said the arrested persons were suspected political thugs adding that they were caught with sticks along Wunti streets during the rally but not in his house as claimed.
