Bauchi south stakeholders task Senator Umar on effective, purposeful representation for development

Stakeholders in Bauchi South Senatorial District comprising politicians, academics, traditional rulers, religious leaders, woman, youths and other opinion leaders have challenged the Senator representing the district, Senator Shehu Buba Umar to give them effective representation which will positively impact on the well-being of the constituents and its development.
The stakeholders, during an engagement on Saturday lamented that the area has been left behind in every facet of growth and development calling on the Senator to change the narrative as a member of the National Assembly.
The politicians amongst the speakers wondered the reason the area cannot have one out the two Ministers appointed from the State during the eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari and the present President Bola Tinubu.
They also observed that almost all the Federal highways in the area particularly Bauchi – Gombe highway are completely dilapidated thereby causing untold hardship for the people in moving around smoothly.
The stakeholders also stressed the need for the Senator to use his office to complete all ongoing or abandoned Federal projects in the area particularly roads, water and agriculture.

The Senator was reminded of the spate of insecurity in the area particularly in Alkaleri and Toro LGAs urging him to work with other elected representatives of the area in order to fashion out a workable and effective security system.
Religious leaders in their submission, stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence as religious tolerance because according to them, that is the only way development can thrive.
As for the traditional institutions, the Senator was administered to accord the institution the desired respect considering that traditional rulers are custodians of culture and traditions of the people.
The representative of the traditional rulers in the area called for constitutional roles for the institution urging the Senator to agitate for that anytime the Constitution is to be amended.
In their own submission, the Academia urged the Senator to take education very serious by putting in place, educational endorsement that will support indigent students in their educational pursuit.
They further urged the Senator to sponsor a bill that will regulate the cost of education in the country considering the hardship parents are facing in paying the bills of their children and wards.
At the end of engagement, the stakeholders commended the representation of Sen Shehu Buba Umar expressing satisfaction that it has been so far so good though more positivity can be achieved.
He, was, however advised to cooperate with the present administration in the state in spite of the political differences between them stressing that it no longer time of playing politics but teaming up to deliver for the people.
