Bauchi spends N14m for 2,740 health insurance enrollees in Katagum LG in 9 months

The sum of N14, 056,200 has been expanded on 2,740 enrollees in the 20 wards of Katagum LGA under the Federal Government Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) implemented by the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA).
The disclosure was made by BASHCMA Desk Officer in Katagum LGA, Nuhu while briefing Journalists who were on the spot assessment of the health insurance scheme in Azare on the implementation of the scheme.
He said that there are 20 wards in Katagum LGA with each one having a health facility where the scheme is being implemented and they get their allocation monthly.
Nuhu Wada explained in each ward, 137 vulnerable people are enrolled in to the scheme receiving free healthcare services to the tune of N570 per month per enrollee.
He also said that the scheme involves outreach programme whereby those who cannot visit the facilities due to severe ill health get the required medical care attention stressing some severe cases are referred to Federal Medical Center and General Hospital, Azare for more investigation and treatment.
In her brief, the Officer in charge of Nassarawa A PHC, Binta Ahmed confirmed that the facility has 137 enrollees who are benefitting from the health insurance scheme to the tune of N570 per enrollee per month.
Binta Ahmed also confirmed that her facility has received 9 months allocation for the scheme to tune of N702, 810 from July 2021 to March 2022.
According to her the services rendered at the facility for the enrollees include Malaria treatment, Ulcer, HBP, STDs, diarhorea, ANC, post – natal, Immunization among others.
The facility also do referrals to secondary and tertiary health facilities within the LGA in severe cases saying that the scheme has been smoothly operational saying that the staff strength is 15 comprising 2 CHEW, 2, 1 Nurse and 10 health workers volunteers.
The story was the same at the Kofar Fada PHC where the Heath Officer in Charge, Rukayyat Bala Ibrahim commended the state government for the scheme which she said has helped greatly in the improvement of Healthcare delivery services.
