Bauchi Vigilante, Youth Empowerment Agency vows to ensure public safety

The Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety across the state.

Dr. Umar Aliyu Shayi, Commander General of the agency, made this promise while addressing journalists after a stakeholders’ meeting on public safety initiatives.

Dr. Shayi praised Governor Bala Mohammad’s administration for prioritizing justice, protection of lives, and properties. He emphasized his agency’s focus on sound leadership, excellence, and professionalism.

Key Commitments:

  • Effective Leadership: Dr. Shayi vowed to uphold high standards of leadership within the agency.
  • Parental Responsibility: He urged parents to be supportive, good role models, and exercise supervision to prevent youth involvement in crime.
  • Staff Productivity: Ambassador Shayi encouraged agency staff to be punctual and productive.

The agency has been working closely with conventional security outfits to disperse dangerous youths and prevent looting and vandalism ¹. Recently, a 24-hour curfew was imposed in Katagum Local Government Area to maintain peace and public safety.

With Dr. Shayi at the helm, the agency aims to ensure Bauchi State remains safe from terrorism and crime.

The Commander General has also commended Governor Mohammad for receiving the prestigious Diamond Award from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
