Bauchi Government has been urged to as a matter of urgency, lunch an investigation into the activities of the Management of the State owned football team, Wikki Tourists FC.
The call was contained in a press statement signed and issued by the Bauchi state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) by the Chairman and Secretary, Mahmud Yakubu Mohammed and Bala Bawaji respectively.
The call is coming at the wake of dismal performance by the Club in the ongoing abridged NPFL league which the Club is currently swimming pool of relegation.
The statement reads, “SWAN is calling on the Government of Bauchi state to as a matter of urgency lunch an investigation into the management of Wikki Tourist football Club.”
The statement further contained that, “SWAN, as a critical stakeholder in Sports development, has noticed the deteriorating condition in the managerial systems of the Club , which is adversely affecting the club’s activities, both on and off the pitch.”
According to SWAN, “Worthy to note that, the Club is currently in the relegation zone, on 9th position with 12 points from 13 games in group B of the abridged Nigeria Premier Football League.”
“Therefore, SWAN is advocating for a Committee of Inquiry be setup to investigate every activity of the current management of Wikki Tourists FC, from its inception to date, especially Contracts of players and technical crew,” SWAN stressed.
Meanwhile, SWAN also condemned in strongest terms the actions of Wikki Tourists Supporters after last Sundays 2 – 1 home lost to visiting Bayelsa United FC.
SWAN stressed that, “The unruly behavior of the home fans is completely against the sprit of sportsmanship and sports development, hence the need to bring the hooligans to book.”
