Benue State Governor Dr. Samuel Ortom has explained that the amended ranching law he recently signed into law is not targeted at any ethnic group.

He said the amended law, with more stringent punishment, is applicable to all irrespective of tribe.

The Governor spoke on Friday during an interview with Arise Television monitored in Abuja by Apex News Exclusive.

According to him, the huge fines captured in the amended law is not really meant to be paid but as a measure to deter people from open grazing.

He said the state government is really to provide land for grazing without the ambit of the law as the era of old ways of grazing has long pass.

Governor Ortom accused President Muhammadu Buhari has not addressing the issue of ranching preferring the Open grazing.
