It was culture at its best as Adamawa State Government formally installed the eleventh Murum Mbula, Murum Bwaltam Bentley Mtoiman in the state.
It would be recalled that the new Murum Mbula has come be after the demise of the late Murum JJ Fwah who passed on early this year after a brief illness.
The Murum Mbula was installed by Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri who called on the new monarch to stand with his people.
Fintiri made the call in Borong, Demsa local government area when he presented the first class staff of office to the Murum at a colourful ceremony.
His wards “We expect the entire Mbula kingdom to also come together and stand in solidarity with the new king”.
The Governor stressed that, “we must rally round the new Murum, support and honor him so that others may honour him even more to embody the greatness, integrity, resilience, hospitality and pride of the Mbula People”.
Fintiri also noted that both Islam and Christianity teaches all that power comes from God alone and confers on whoever he so wishes to.
The Governor also praised the courage of co-contestants and their spirit of sportsmanship while accepting the decisions of the kingmakers by rallying round the new Murum Mbula.
Fintiri therefore urged the new traditional ruler to extend a hand of friendship to them and invite them in the one row task of moving the “Nzali Mbula” forward.
He emphasized that he is a government that appreciates the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and cordial relations among the highly diverse and plural people of Adamawa State
In a response, the new monarch remarked that the day marks a critical turning point for the Mbula nation.
Bwaltam Bentley however, reminded his subjects that to achieve the future dream, “we must begin by consciously and assiduously start imbibing peace, hard work and communal unit, within ourselves in and outside the state.
He noted thus, “today I stand on the grounds upon which my forefathers and predecessors stood, but I stand taller because I am standing on their shoulders from this vantage position, we will build on their legacies and honour their memories”.
