Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi massacre: Senator Lalong, other leaders receive Vice President Shettima on condolence to Plateau

Former Minister of Labour and Employment and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Lalong was among Plateau leaders who received Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang, Jos on Wednesday 27 December 2023.

The Vice President was in Plateau State to commiserate with the Government and people over the gruesome massacre of tens of innocent citizens by terrorists in villages of Bokkos, Barkin Ladi and Mangu Local Government Areas.

This was contained in a statement by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Special Adviser on Media to Senator Simon Lalong, Plateau South Senatorial District to Apex News Exclusive.

Other leaders who joined Governor Caleb Mutfwang to welcome the Vice President who was accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Christopher Musa, former Governor Joshua Dariye, Samuel Atukum, Senator representing Plateau Central Zone Sen. Diket Plang, Member Bokkos/Mangu Federal Constituency Ishaya Lalu, former Senate Minority Leader Simon Mwadkon and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba among others.

The Vice President thereafter preceeded to Bokkos where he visited an IDP Camp housing some of the displaced persons from the attacks.

He extended the sympathies of the Federal Government and assured the people that President Tinubu has directed the armed forces to do everything possible and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Assurances were also given of immediate relief interventions by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development.

The Vice President and National Security Adviser later addressed stakeholders at the Yakubu Gowon Airport Heipang before departing Jos.

It would be recalled that Senator Lalong had earlier condemned in strong terms the barbaric attacks and expressed deep sympathies to the affected people, urging security agencies to ensure that the attackers are fished out and brought to justice.
