Borno announces 2 weeks lock down to stem COVID-19

Borno State Government has closed down all entry points leading to Maiduguri the capital, aimed at stemming the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus, now that the number of infected patients are soaring higher by the day, across the country.
This was contained in a statement, attributed to the state governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, hinted that, a two-week lockdown,on all entry points into the state will commence,Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the first instance.
According to the statement,only trucks and vehicles carrying food,medicine,fuel and other essential goods and services may be allowed into the state,while commercial vehicles are to restrict the number of pessengers to three and not more than two in public cabs and trycycles also known as Keke NAPEP.
Similarly,all civil servants from grade levels one to twelve have been mandated to work from home, except those on essential services,just as the ongoing verification exercise of some government officials have been suspended immediately and that all financial institutions and shops should provide hand sanitizers and temperature monitoring equipment at all operational points and maintain social distancing in crowded areas.
The statement  called for calm and intensified prayers to end the pandemic, stressing that,government has put in place, palliatives to cushion the hardship associated with vulnerable people as a result of the plaque.
Our correspondent observed that, Borno, with its large population of internaly displaced persons, due to terrorists activities,may face large number of patients to contain with as well as  some severe consequences following the two weeks lockdown across the state.
