Borno declares willingness to partner police to create conducive work environment

Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has reiterated government commitment and determination to ensure peaceful co-existence and a very secure society for its citizens across the length and breadth of the state.
This was contained in address during the Inauguration of Borno State Community policing advisory Committee, held at the multipurpose Hall Government House Maiduguri.
Represented by the deputy Governor, Alh. Umar Usman Kadafur, the Governor said government is willing to cooperate with the Nigerian Police to create the enabling environment for the officers and men to work in harmony with various members of the communities in which they operate.
He used the occasion to call on the citizens of Borno State to give their maximum support and cooperation to the Nigerian police to help them create a crime free society stressing that the Initiative no doubt go along way in reducing the rate of crime especially the Boko Haram Insurgency which requires more robust community efforts along with law enforcement agents to contain.
Similarly the Inspector General of Police represented by the DIG of police,department of logistics and supply, DIG Aminchi Baraya, said the concept of community policing is very important and will help in the formalization of the same ideals and principles for more proactive,efficient and effective community policing in more challenging situations.
Also state Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Indasu, in his contribution said the present security arrangement in the State which involves CJTF,Hunters,traditional rulers and all stakeholders in the fight against insurgency makes it very easy to implement police community policing in the State and appealed for more support and cooperation.
In his remarks, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. KaKa Shehu Lawan, applauded the initiative of State government and the Nigerian Police for coming up with this in it’s quest in tackling insecurity in the State.
Highlights of the occasion was the formation of two committees,comprising of traditional rulers,Security agencies,CSO, NLC, NBA, NUJ, NDLEA and community leaders among others.
