Borno State Government has approved the construction of new mega secondary school in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area.
The state governor, Prof.Babagana Zulum disclosed this while addressing thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in Pulka town.
He also deployed dozens of trailers loaded with variety of non-food items that were distributed to about 20,000 vulnerable locals in the area.
It could be recalled that the Governor had travelled to Kala-Balge, Ngala, Marte, Dikwa and Mafa local government areas where he personally supervised the distribution of food items to more than 10,000 displaced and vulnerable citizens as well as assessed destroyed schools, hospitals and issued different directives on deadlines for completion of ongoing projects including issues relating to the commencement of farming activities.
In his remarks, he extended his deep appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, North-East Development Commission, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) as well as Dangote Foundation for their enormous contributions of food items to the state government among others.
At Kirawa, another border community in Gwoza Local Government Area the governor assessed public and private buildings destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents just as on sighting the governor’s convoy, thousands of residents that were taking refuge in the Republic of Cameroon crossed into Nigeria, seven years after they were forced out to the neighbouring country.
He assured them of his administration’s commitment to return them to their homes as the state government is liaising with the Nigerian military to explore the possibility of returning people back to Kirawa.
“We are here purposely to examine the security architecture of this very important town, Kirawa. We have started interfacing with the Nigerian Military with the view to resettling the people of Kirawa. But the most important thing we have to do now is to ensure minimum security in the town.
“As far as the Government of Borno is concerned, you can see the commissioner of RRR is here. We are ready and committed to ensure people are resettled into this community,” Zulum said.
He added that government is equally looking at the possibility of returning people to Ngoshe, Warabe, Ashigashiya and Hambagda all in Gowza Local Government Area of the state.
