Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has delivered 13 critical roads with a network of drainage across vast and densely populated communities in the state capital.
The township roads construction extends into parts of Jere and Konduga local government areas.
This adds to the award of a N4.3b contract for the construction of Borno’s first flyover at the ever busy Customs roundabout which links the Metropolis to several towns along the Maiduguri-Gamboru-Cameroun international economic corridor.

The township roads delivered include a 3 kilometre road at Umarari; 7.3 kilometre road at Pompomari Old Airport; 2.7 kilometre road at ‘Yan Doya Bulumkutu and a 7.6 kilometre road at Bolori Phase 1. Roads under construction and awaiting completion are a 472 meters road from the state specialist hospital – Babban Layi junction; 638 meters road from House of Assembly Junction and its interlink to the Drive at Shehu’s Palace and Shettima Kawu Junction.
There is also the 720 meters road from Alhaji Lawan Monguno Junction to Pole Waya Biyu and another 470 meters road at Gidan Yashi at Abbaganaram.
Two discernible reasons informed the bold decision to add to Maiduguri’s and surrounding local government’s road infrastructure.
One was the necessity for more roads in Maiduguri to meet a geometrically increasing population and vehicular traffic congestion inspired by the displacements of citizens from at least 20 of the 27 local government areas of the state.
Secondly, the pressure on dwindling existing infrastructure in the state capital made it almost unavoidable for any serious government to take action by providing solutions.
