Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum Friday joined thousands of Muslim faithfuls for Sallah prayers at the Ramat Square Eid ground, Maiduguri.
The governor, alongside his predecessor, Senator Kashim Shettima, Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi and top government officials were led in the performance of a two raka’at prayers, by the Imam Idaini of Borno, Imam Shetima Mamman Shettima Saleh.
Ramat square,where the Eid prayers were held is a large field with capacity for tens of thousands people,accommodated people from different walks of life and different parts of the state capital.
The huthba (islamic sermon) which is normally delivered by the imam was shortened as the part of measures to avoid delays of keeping people for longer period, called for unity amongst citizens and prayed for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Muslim ummah to tolerate one another and live peacefully.
Also at the government house, the Governor urged citizens to sustain prayers for the return of peace in the State as delivered by the state APC Chairman, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, on his behalf and used the occasion to congratulate all muslims for successfully completing the Eid prayers across the state.
