Borno GSM handset dealers commend government for providing them tools

By Dauda R. Pam, Maiduguri

The Borno State Government has commenced distribution of handsets to all the GSM phone dealers recently affected by fire disaster that engulfed their business premises at Joggol GSM Market at Post Office area of Maiduguri.

This is aimed to reduce the level of hardship being faced by victims of the inferno as they relocate to a new site at Bullumkutu in the metropolis.

Deputy Governor of the state, Umar Usman Kadafur, while flagging off the distribution exercise, urged the beneficiaries to remain calm and orderly assuring them that the distribution of the handsets would be done in phases through their branch chairmen and that all of them would benefit.

The deputy governor, who handed over two handsets to each beneficiary, informed them government has cleared another piece of land behind the new site for onward allocation to those who could not benefit from allocations earlier made.

The gesture, according to the  Deputy Governor, was carried out under the auspices of Poverty Alleviation programme and urged those who are yet to move to the new site, to do so as soon as possible and be law abiding by channeling all their problems through their leaders.

All the beneficiaries who spoke at the occasion were full of praises to Governor Babagana Zulum and his deputy for providing them with the necessary environment and facilities to operate their businesses successfully.
