Borno NUJ commends state government for easing economic hardship during Ramadan, COVID-19 lockdown

Borno State Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Borno Council, Comrade Bulama Talba, has on behalf of all working journalists,felicitated with the government and people of the state for successfully ending the Ramadan fast and celebrating the eid-el-fitr under peaceful atmosphere,unity of purpose and collective responsibility for the common good of the citizens.
He commended the prompt political will of the Borno State Government in responding to the wishes of the citizens under the COVID-19 health crisis and attendant economic hardship such as the ease of lockdown and numerous support from donors in the organized private sector.
The NUJ used the medium to particularly commend, Governor Babagana Zulum, in the distribution of palliatives to over 60,000 households in MMC and Jere as well as numerous food and cash support to the “poor of the poorest” in other local government areas of the State.
And members of the public for their resilience and compliance to government directives and preventive measures during this trying times of the pandemic calling on all to continue to observe physical distancing, hand washing, use of face masks and other hygiene protocols to curb community spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement issued and signed by the state Secretary of the NUJ, Mohammed Ibrahim,appealed to traders in the state not to hike prices of essential commodities which will only inflict more hardship to members of the society and urged the well to do, to extend their hands of kindness to the needy.
Stressing that the Muslim umma should use this holy period to pray for a quick end to the insurgency bedevilling the state and wished all Barka da Sallah.
