Borno Police Command has paraded over 50 suspects for alleged murder,robbery and cattle rustling among other various crimes and homicides across the state.
Mohammed Aliyu Ndatsu, state Commissioner of Police, disclosed this,Tuesday, at a press briefing in his office narrated that in the month of September, 2019, one Auwatcha KuruIchami 21and Kalli Modu Ngamdu , 20, engaged one BunuTella, Chari Zarami and Ali Kwaryambe of Melari village Gubio in a free-for-all-fight in the process, Kalli Modu Ngamdu hit BunuTella on his head with a pestle,who instantly fell down unconscious and was rushed to UMTH for treatment where he later died early this month precisely on February 2, 2020.
Also, on February 6, 2020,one Abbati Mohammed 25 years old ‘m’ of Jidari Polo used a sharp knife and stabbed one Alhaji Abdullahi Abubakar a.k.a Gudusu 58 years Old on his left eye, neck and abdomen while at work at Jiddari Clinic,resulting to his demise, having suffered severe injuries he sustained during the scuffle.
According to the Commissioner of police, another incident occurred on, January 5 this year,where,one Hassan Adamu ‘m’ 19yrs old, of Goni Kachallari area Maiduguri stabbed one Alhaji Abu Bukar a.k.a Lagoda ‘m’ of custom area Maiduguri to death at West-end area of Maiduguri, allegedly over a debt of N5,500.00 the deceased could not settle” and that”, the suspect equally stabbed one Mohammed Alhaji Mohammed before absconding from the scene as Alhaji Abu Bukar was certified dead by a medical doctor on arrival at state Specialist Hospital.
Equally he said,”on 6/2/2020, one Aliyu Jubril ‘m’ of Tudun Wada behind Borno Express transport company, forcefully raped a 14 year old house help,”as a result the victim sustained vaginal injuries and was bleeding profusely.”
Exhibits of a skirt, trousers and pants were presented and will soon be charged to court.
Also, on 13/02/2020, one UsmanTijjani ‘m’ 40yrs old of Fori ward Maiduguri was arrested and accused of having carnal knowledge of a13 year old girl of the same address and that as a result the victim is now two months pregnant and will soon be charged to court.
“Between 07/02/2020 and 10/02/2020, seven (7) suspects were arrested on different occasions, and at different locations for armed robbery in dwelling houses and in tricycles (kekenapep). The suspects admitted the commission of the crime.
“Suspects include : 1.) Mohammed Ramat , Abubakar Abdullahi, Mohammed Abdullahi, SalehUsman ,Umar Mohammed , Sulaiman Abdullahi, Usman Abdullahi and Thomas Samaila.
“Exhibits: include a tricycle with body no. Y-42, Two Handsets, Two Knives, Two toy guns, and Fake military camouflage trouser”, Aliyu said.
The commissioner of police further explained that following incessant rustling of domestic animals by suspected terrorists and other criminal gangs, the Command’s SARS operatives spread tentacles with a view to apprehending those culpable.
The efforts paid off when between 10/02/2020 and 12/02/2020, six (6) suspects were arrested at Subdubura in Magumeri LGA and in Maiduguri Metropolis.
He said although the suspects denied being members of any terrorists’ sect, but they admitted buying the cows from people,they include Sadiq Abdullahi, Abubakar Mohammed, Umar Chellumi, Bukar Jalomi, Bulama Bunu, Babagana Bukar, Bukar Chabal, Alhaji Ali, Mohammed Ketera and Mohammed Musa with: 12 rustled Cows as exhibits.
According to him, based on complaints from members of the public, Intelligence-led covert operations led to the arrest of Twelve (12) Persons (between 01/02/2020 and 12/02/2020) for the offence of theft of properties namely: Handsets, Electric Generators, Cigarettesand Clothes.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime including,Auwal Sani, Abba Mohammed, Modu Usman, Yusuf Musa, Ibrahim Tampul, Mohammed Alhaji Mohammed, Mohammed Ahmed Abdul.
