Borno set to conduct LG polls June 13

The Borno State Independent Electoral Commission, (BOSIEC), has concluded plans to conduct elections in all the 27 local government councils with effect from June13, 2020.
Special Adviser to Governor Babagana Zulum on Media, Public Relations and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau, said in a statement on Monday that government is committed to continually release all necessary funds to  BOSIEC to enable it organize a hitch free and credible elections across the state.
According to the statement, elections are expected to hold in all 27 local government areas and 312 wards in the state among all registered political parties and that it was  in response to the commitment demonstrated by Government that  BOSIEC has, advertised on some newspapers, an approved timetable for the local Council  election,as signed by the commission’s chairman, Alhaji Abdu Usman.
He said, the commission will on Thursday meet registered political parties and stakeholders to fine tune the process with the parties scheduled to hold primaries between April16 to 18 and that campaigns will commencing on May 15 through June 11, 2020.
The Special Adviser used the opportunity to appeal to all citizens to participate fully as Government is committed to a peaceful electoral process across the state.
