Briskila Emefesi Women Foundation launches ‘Peer to Peer Vanguard’ in Bogoro, Dass of Bauchi

Briskila Emefesi Women Foundation (BEWOF) Skill Acquisition Centre has launched the “Peer to Peer Vanguard” in Bogoro and Dass Local government areas of Bauchi State.

Speaking at Bogoro, the Executive Director of BEWOF, Dr. Briskila Emefesi said the group is meant to be change agents in their respective communities.

She urged youths to think outside the box and seek help for themselves in bringing developments for themselves and their localities adding that government cannot do everything for them.

Dr. Briskila further explained that the “Peer to Peer Vangurad” will focus on six major areas including: “Peace keeping and building, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health, Nutrition, Drugs and Alcoholism as well as Mechanised Farming.

She argued that engaging the young people in these areas will not only address the social vices and negative behaviours that confront the communities, but also afford them opportunities to gain fulfilments and positively affect their society.

The BEFOW Executive Director then promised those that indicated interests to learn skills in the Foundation that it will be free of charge which will come them as a bonus and encouragement to be drivers of positive change in their communities that have lagged behind in many areas.

Members of the Peer to Peer Group welcomed the initiative and promised to be take it seroiusly as it will bring many developments to not just the communities but each of them.

A BEWOF Administrative staff, Kayode James who concurrently created similar group in Dass local government of the State said that the young people there accepted it with excitement and assured to maximise the opportunity to attract positive changes to their communities.

Our correspondent reports that the Village Head of Bogoro, Nuhu Tafida lauded the efforts of BEFOW and its Executive Director on the dimension of developments it is attracting to the community especially in empowering young people and urged others to take cue from that.

The BEFOW Executive Director also received the endorsement of the Divisional Police headquarters in Bogoro in providing security for them in its quest of championing positive changes.
