King Charles III has bestowed an Member of the British Empire, (MBE) award on Mr Andrew Dunn who has worked in parts of Nigeria on wildlife conservation for over 25 years.

Dunn is the country director of Nigeria Programme at Wildlife Conservation Society with Headquarters in Calabar.

The award was presented at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London by King Charles III.

In an interview in Calabar, Dunn said the award was specifically for services to wildlife conservation in Nigeria and for tackling the illegal wildlife trade.

“I have lived and worked in Nigeria for over 25 years, including 20 years with the Wildlife Conservation Society in Calabar.

“My work has focused on Cross River National Park, Gashaka Gumti National Park, and Yankari Game Reserve protecting gorillas, elephants, chimpanzees, and lions.

“In Cross River State, we are working to improve the sustainability of cocoa and bush mango production to reduce rates of forest loss, protect watersheds, and mitigate climate change impact.

“I attended the ceremony with my two daughters Theresa and Rachel,” he said.
