
CAF Award 2024: Lookman wins African player award, Chiamaka best women goalkeeper, Super Falcons best National female team

Nigeria’s Super Eagles player, Ademola Lookman has won the best African men player of the year award 2024.
At the CAF Award ceremony at Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco Monday night, Lookman was presented with the award by FIFA President, Gianna Ifantino.
The Super Falcons won the Best National female team of the year award while Women goalkeeper of the year went to Chiamaka Nnadozie also of Super Falcons.
African women best player of the year 2024 went to Barbara Banda of Zambia.
Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire won the Best African male team of the year award, while the Men’s club of the year award was won by Al Ahly SC of Egypt.
TP Mazembe of DR Congo beats ASFAR of Morocco and Edo Queens of Nigeria to win African women club of the year award.
Best male player of inter club football went Memoladi Sundance and South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams who also won best African goalkeeper award.
Best women player of inter club was won by Sanaa Mssoudy of Morocco, best women coach of the year, Lamia of TP Mazembe of DR Congo and best men coach of the year went to Emerse Fae of Cote D’Ivoire.
After receiving the Best women national team award, President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau said the team won due to hard work and dedication urging other teams to catch up if they can as the team is not relenting.
He dedicated the award to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu who he described as supporter of women football in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Super Eagles forward Lookman on winning the 2024 CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year.

President Tinubu also hails Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for clinching the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award and the Super Falcons for being named the Women’s National Team of the Year.

The President joins millions of Nigerians in celebrating these athletes, describing them as worthy ambassadors for showcasing their talent and bringing honour to the country on the continental and world stage.
The President believes that this recognition by Africa’s highest football authority will inspire other upcoming athletes to remain steadfast in pursuing their dreams.
He affirms that their determination, discipline and confidence underscore the administration’s resolve to build a better Nigeria where everyone thrives and succeeds.
‘‘These athletes embody the essential Nigerian Spirit. They signpost the best in us as a nation. Let no one ever write us off. I am incredibly proud of them.
‘‘Thank you for making Nigeria proud and keeping our flag flying.
‘‘Thank you for winning medals for Nigeria both at home and abroad. You will win more in the future,’’ the President said.
