Pensioners in Calabar, capital of Cross River State have commended Governor Bassey Otu for what they described as conscious efforts to see to their wellbeing.
In a statement by the chairman, Comrade Godwin Effiong, they expressed happiness for ‘additional take home’.
They said the 800 bags of rice which the governor allocated to pensioners in the state went a long way.
They urged the public to discountenance a media report which allegedly claimed that pensioners got only two cups of rice.
“Pensioners in Calabar got home with fair share of the palliative. From start of the palliative exercise, we were attended to.
“It was insulting and embarrassing for the public to read that we got only two cups of rice.
“We acknowledge the magnanimity and conscious efforts to see to our wellbeing, including take home,” he said.
