‘Catch them young’ encourages identifying young footballers – Silas Agara

Honourable Silas Ali Agara, Chairman of Nationwide League One (NLO), of the Nigerian Football Federation has disclosed that ‘catch them young’ or identifying upcoming sports youngsters as vital for promoting professionals.

He made the disclosure at the finals of the 10th edition of 2024 Mega Lottery, Nationwide League One Super 8 Finals held at Bwari township Stadium, Abuja.

Honourable Silas Ali Agara, who is also the Director General of National Directorate of Employment, (NDE) said, “All over the World, youngsters are identified and invited for trials either by professional or national teams are trained to be superstars.

“I am calling on youngsters to be disciplined, endure trainings, avoid drugs inorder to excel.

Nigerian Football governing body wouldn’t relent in it’s zeal to continue developing sports for Nigeria to lift the World Cup after winning 5 under-17 trophies, Gold medal at Olympic and eyeing under-20 and World Cup trophies respectively.” He said.

Honourable Silas Agara said the Nigeria Football governing body and stakeholders would continue exhibiting team work for the promotion of football in the country.

The final match was won by Police Beretta Football Club of Gombe who defeated Family Worship Champions Football Club of Abuja, after a goalless draw, the winner was decided by a loan goal scored out of five penalty shots by each of the clubs.
