Chairman, Bauchi sports festival organizing committee highlights Governor Mohammed’s achievements in sports

The Secretary to the Bauchi State Government (SSG) and Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee of the upcoming Bauchi State Sports Festival, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, has said Bauchi State Government has a vision and expectations for what promises to be a transformative experience for the state and vibrant sporting community.

The SSG and MOC Chairman stated this at a one-day meeting of council on sports/stakeholders meeting held on the 25 June, 2024 at Multi-Purpose indoor Sports hall Bauchi, through the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Special Duties Hashimu Yakubu Kumbala.

Barrister Kashim, expressed gratitude to the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for nursing the idea of Organizing this important meeting and for their tireless efforts in revitalizing sports in the state.

He said their commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in sports is evident.

The SSG highlighted that under the visionary leadership of Governor Mohammed, Bauchi state has made significant strides in sports sector that includes substantial investment in upgrading and developing sports infrastructure across the state to provide athletes with venues for training and competitions, youth engagement initiatives aimed at engaging Youth through sports that include platforms for young talents to develop their skills, participate in competitive sports and pursue careers in sports management and administration and community involvement approach to sports development with emphasis on community participation involving local communities in the planning and execution of Sports events and ensuring that the sports initiatives are inclusive, reflective of local needs and capable of fostering Community spirit among others.

“The upcoming Bauchi State Sports Festival is a culmination of these efforts.It will serve as a grand platforms for our athletes to complete, for our Youth to be inspired, and for our communities to come together in celebration of our shared passion for sports,” he said.

Barrister Kashim therefore assured that the festival which was scheduled to from 10th — 20th July, 2024 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi, will not only identify talents but also provide an avenue for scouting and nurturing future champions for use in national and international championships.

In his remarks before declaring the meeting open, the chairman of the occasion who is the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu, commended the state Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Salis Mohammed Gamawa for his initiatives to ensure successful well come back of Bauchi state’s  as name Mecca of sports in Nigeria.

While describing the Commissioner as dynamic, young and energetic, truthful, loyal, committed and intelligent, believes that this qualities were responsible for Governor Mohammed’s desire and commitment in line with his ” My Bauchi Policy Development Agenda” , to support the commissioner’s creative ideas for sports development in the state. both financially and moral.

On his part the State commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Muhammad Salis Gamawa, thanks the SSG and the State  HOS for adding color and making the interaction with stakeholders more glamorous.

He appreciates contributions of stakeholders and assured that all factors identified to regain the lost glory of sports in the state will be followed to retain the name as Mecca of sports in Nigeria, which is the target of the present administration in state under the good leadership of workaholic Governor Mohammed, who is always on the move to invest in sports and youth purposeful development programs in the state for peace, unity..and economic development.
