Chairman of the National Sports Commission Shehu Dikko has assured Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong of the Commission’s support in his quest to develop grassroots sports as a way of building the youths and fishing out talents within his Constituency.
Dikko made the pledge when he received Senator Lalong who paid him a courtesy visit at the National Sports Commission Headquarters in Abuja.
Dikko recalled the friendship and support he received from Senator Lalong during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State as well as the partnership that ensured that Plateau United recorded successes both at the national and continental football events.
He said he had so much respect for Senator Lalong who is an active sportsman sponsor and mentor that is interested in using his office to develop grassroots sports and take the youths out of poverty, idleness and temptation for negative vices.
He commended Senator Lalong for sponsorship of grassroots sports such as local wrestling and boxing which took place in Shendam and QuanPan Local Governments of Plateau State within his Constituency.
Ealier Senator Lalong said he was at the office of the Chairman of the National Sports Commission to congratulate him for his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the appointment was well deserved as Shehu Dikko has done so much to the sports development of the country.
He recalled with appreciation the support he enjoyed from Shehu Dikko particularly in football development of Plateau State during his tenure as Governor.
Lalong assured the NSC Chairman of his support and collaboration through legislative action and other means to enable him succeed in his assignment.
