Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria condoles Governor Radda over death of former President Buhari

A high-level delegation from the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), led by Muhammad Abba Aliyu, Vice-Chairman of the Joint District Society for Northern Nigeria, paid a condolence visit to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda at the Katsina State Government House this afternoon over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The delegation conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Institute’s President, Mr. Innocent Chinyere Ohagwa, and its over 50,000 members across the nation.

Speaking on behalf of the Institute, Muhammad Abba Aliyu described the late President Buhari as a global icon whose legacy transcended national boundaries.

“General Muhammadu Buhari is not just a Katsina or Nigerian figure; he was a global symbol of discipline, courage, and purposeful leadership. On behalf of our President and members nationwide, we extend our deepest condolences. We pray for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi,” he said.

He further noted that President Buhari’s uprightness and integrity greatly influenced professional and ethical standards in public service, including the taxation sector. “His values shaped how we define accountability and public trust in our profession,” he added.

During the visit, a short but heartfelt prayer session was held for the late President. Supplications were made for his eternal rest and for strength to the people of Katsina during this time of mourning.

In his response, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda warmly received the delegation and expressed profound appreciation for their solidarity.

“This visit by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria is deeply heartwarming. It reflects the respect and admiration Baba Buhari earned across professional sectors and the entire country. We are grateful for your prayers and your presence,” the Governor said.

Governor Radda described the late President as “our father and guiding moral voice,” noting that his contributions to national discipline and governance would remain evergreen. “Your visit today is not just a condolence call—it is a mark of national unity and professional camaraderie,” he added.

He urged the Institute to continue upholding the values that President Buhari exemplified: honesty, orderliness, and service to the nation. “Let’s honour his memory by living out the principles he stood for,” the Governor concluded.

The delegation included prominent tax professionals and senior government officials from Katsina State: Umar Muhammad Yusuf, Technical Secretary of the Katsina District Society; Hafizullah, Director of Finance, Head of Civil Service; Abu Haruna, Director of Accountancy and Chairman of Katsina National Society; Maryam Yahya Fage Vice Coordinator, Society of Women in Taxation; and Barr.
