Chief Palmer Okonkwo for burial November 13th

The remains of Chief Palmer Francis Okonkwo would be committed to mother earth on Thursday, November 13, 2025 in his compound, Aro-Ibiasoegbe, Oru-West Local Government Area of Imo State.

Chief Okonkwo, aged 92 was a renowned businessman during his lifetime, died in Maryland, United States after a brief illness.

He was a respected community leader, philanthropist and mobilizer of men and resources for the development of his community.

As as mark of acknowledgment for his untiring efforts, the late Okonkwo was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Chimereze of Ibiasoegbe.

A statement released by the family and signed by his son, Ndubisi Palmer, the body of late community leader would depart Aladinma Hospital mortuary, Owerri by 7am on Thursday, November 13 2025 to his country home, Aro-Ibiasoegbe.

The statement added that there will be a stop over at the Comprehensive Secondary School Ibiasoegbe, for a brief ceremony as a mark of last respects for his huge contributions to the establishment and growth of the school.

The body will proceed to his compound for lying-in state, where family, friends and associates would pay their last respects to the late Chief Okonkwo.

According to the statement, the body will proceed to St Paul’s Catholic Church, Ibiasoegbe for a Requiem Mass.

The statement further added that interment would follow immediately after Mass at his compound Aro-Ibiasoegbe.
