An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Cross River State, Chief Henry Onwe, who served as  coordinator of the Governorship Campaign in Yala Local Government Area  of the state has again called on chairman of the party in the state, Barrister Alphonsus Eba to resign immediately.

In an interview in Calabar with journalists, he emphasized that Eba performed woefully at even his own Echemofana ward which he  ought to have won effortlessly going by the humongous resources available to him

As a result, he said the party chairman failed to deliver  the state governor during his Cross River north senatorial election, and also failed to deliver Asiwaju Bola Tinubu during the presidential election.

He also alleged that Eba betrayed the Governor Ayade despite the humongous resources made available  to him for the election.

“It was very shameful  that the state governor who contested the northern senatorial lost many polling units in his area, wards and the senatorial district. This totally unacceptable for a state Chairman of a ruling party like the APC.

“For the governor to have lost in the nearby polling units was more painful  because Ayade would have become the Senate President in the incoming administration, a position the state and people of the northern district would have benefitted significantly.”

According to him,  the results in Eba’s immediate catchment area was abysmal and showed woeful loss by the APC to the PDP and LP in the Presidential and Senatorial elections

He lamented that the party chairman is the one accusing members who did not win their polling units of anti party activities, and therefore, will not benefit from future appointments.

Reacting, chairman of APC campaign council in the state, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla cautioned that when a political party loses an election, every member and leader should take responsibility for the failure.

He said  individuals  should not be singled out for blame.

“When you vote in a polling unit located in a district or neighborhood in an opposition stronghold how would you then do you expect a political leader voting in such a polling unit will deliver?

“The assertion always that a political unit must deliver his or her polling unit to be reckoned with is nonsensical. It is a legacy of PDP garrison democracy foisted on us by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“It is therefore balderdash, unfair, blackmail, and bunkum to single out State APC Chairman, Barrister Alphonsus Eba for the poor performance of the Party in the Northern Senatorial District in the last elections.”

“We call on Mr Eba to resign before he plunges our great party into more misfortunes and shame in the local government elections. We therefore urge well meaning leaders of the party to join the group in urging Mr Eba to resign immediately.”
