Children urged to be mindful of inhuman treatment through sexual abuse of any kind and report it when being abused.
The called has been made by the manager, Salama Sexual Assault Referral Center, Mrs Grace Yohanna Abbin while marking this year’s Children’s Day at Model Primary School in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Speaking on Incest (crime of having intercourse with closed relatives: parent, child, sibling, grandchild), said findings from her experience saw lack of traditional family values, moral decadence, broken homes, emotional imbalance, a shift in family roles due to poverty and ignorance among others as reasons for incest which is not a justification for incestuous.
She called on the parents and guardians to see their children grow with high self esteem.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Local Government’s Education Secretary, Dr Phillip A. Nwamagyi described education as the key to unlocking the full potential of children.
Nwamagyi, who appreciated the commitment of teachers, staff, and volunteers to providing a memorable and enriching experience for the children, said they have committed to provide and support quality education that nurtures pupil’s curiosity, hones their talents, and equips them with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.

“Children’s Day is a day of immense significance, as it reminds us of the importance of nurturing, protecting, and empowering our young minds. It serves as a poignant reminder that children are not just the future but an integral part of our present. It is our duty, as educators, parents, and community members, to create an environment that fosters their holistic development.
“Let us reflect on the power of education in empowering our children. Education empowers them to dream, to explore, and to realize their aspirations. It opens doors to new opportunities, broadens their horizons, and helps them become active contributors to society.
He called on the children to dream big, embrace challenges, and pursue their passions with determination, noting that education is the key that will open doors to a bright future, “Believe in yourselves, for you are capable of achieving greatness,” he added
He finally emphasized the importance of community support in creating an environment conducive to the growth and well-being of the children. Together, let us ensure that our schools are safe, inclusive, and nurturing. Let us join hands in promoting educational initiatives, encouraging parental involvement, and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
