Christian Aid sensitises Kaduna women on decision-making at all levels

In an attempt to encourage the full participation of women in decision making at all levels of governance Christian Aid, a Non Governmental Organization has sensitized the women from Jema’a and Kaura Local Government Areas of Kaduna State in that direction.

The sensitization training which was held in Kafanchan, Kaduna State was also intended to train the women to be assertive and not insulting while making negotiations alongside their men counterparts.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the training, one of the facilitators, Professor Hauwa’u Yusuf said the training was to enable the women to boldly stand their ground in all issues.

Professor Yusuf expressed optimism that the women will be better positioned to not only contribute meaningfully in their various communities after the sensitization but also seek elective positions.

Earlier, Uzor Uzoma of the Christian Aid said the essence of the training was not only to advocate for women inclusion in decision making but to also train them in agricultural activities and disaster reduction strategies.

She said it was also to celebrate the achievements of the women in national development at the same time campaign against intimidation, enslavement, physical and emotional violence against the women.

Uzoma said the NGO was using the International Day for the Women to Call for a stop in the ill treatment meted out on the women with a view to having a violent free society for all.

A cross section of participants expressed gratitude over the training.
