The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) and the Federal Ministry of Tourism are working out modalities to identify and certify holy places in Nigeria for pilgrimage.

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. (Dr.) Yakubu Pam made the remark on Thursday while briefing the media on plans to conclude the Easter Pilgrimage.

He said the Easter Pilgrimage was put on hold due to the General Elections and the high rate of foreign exchange rates.

The conclusion of the Easter pilgrimage will begin on 18, September, 2023 to be concluded in October, 2023.

According to him, there are many places in Nigeria that have spiritual relevance which people would like to visit.

He explained that those spiritual places would not be unveiled until deep research and verifications are concluded with the various denominations involved.

Rev. Pam pointed out that Nigeria have these spiritual places and want to promote them.

On the conclusion of the Easter Pilgrimage, the Executive Secretary said 1000 intending pilgrims are involved. They are from FCT, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Lagos, Delta, Imo and some self-sponsored.

The Executive Secretary explained that due to the high exchange rate, the Presidency intervened and pilgrims are paying N2.2million instead of N2.7million for the exercise.

He said the 2023 Main Pilgrimage will take place in December and already arrangements are on top gear for the exercise.

Rev. Pam noted that during the last pilgrimage, the Commission was involved in agriculture promotion where the Highland tea in Taraba State benefitted from Israeli professionals.
