The Nigerian National Assembly even though it could be classified as performing above average in the past has with the positive transformational agenda being engineered by the visionary Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana Esq since his auspicious inauguration in February 2024; it can be said that the sky and beyond now remains the limit for the nation’s most foremost legislative institution.
The steadfast Kamoru Ogunlana Esq together with his diligent crop of dedicated public servants have fashioned out an amazing and highly resourceful organizational work plan and blue print geared towards a more efficient service delivery and greater managerial and staff productivity.
Kamoru Ogunlana’s rational administrative blueprint rests on quite a number of solid planks most especially, an unrelenting knack for professionalism, strict political neutrality and lack of bias, consistent adherence to due process, accountability, transparency and the rule of law, consistent training of management and staff, adequate provision of equipment and tools and the establishment of allied institutions and facilities like the Nigerian Institute of Legislative Studies, the National Assembly Budget and Research Office, and a state of the art ICT Centre.
CNA Ogunlana’s bias for professionalism and technical competence is definitely well known and he has installed a refreshing culture of competence and excellence in the administrative and bureaucratic landscape of NASS as the most qualified and most competent hands are always chosen to fill an available slot or position.
Gone are the halcyon days of mutual backslapping, cronyism and nepotism where positions and privileges were based on reference and ‘man know man’ syndrome.
In the new NASS already crafted by the forward looking CNA, promotional exams are held for senior level managerial and top management hierarchy and the best man or woman that come out tops qualifies for that position Q.E.D no more, no less, and this commendable policy paradigm has resulted in increased productivity and enhanced staff morale coupled with greater effectiveness and efficiency cutting across all departmental levels of the National Assembly.
In fact a very senior observer from the United States Congress had cause to commend the thorough dedication to unvarnished professionalism, competence and exemplary performance exhibited by a resolute Kamoru Ogunlana Esq while applauding the sincerity of purpose and sense of direction as well as patriotic fervour exemplified by his leadership focus, vigour and fortitude.
