CLO calls for improved security, benevolent servant leaders as Nigeria celebrates 65 years of Independence

The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State branch, has tasked Nigerian leaders to use this occasion of 65th anniversary to tackle monumental insecurity in the country and show more humane and benevolent leadership.
The rights group in a statement released in Onitsha, Anambra State said the President should also use the opportunity to address: “hyper inflation,harsh economic policies, unemployment, youth restiveness” among others: “to actualize lofty ideas of our founding fathers”.
CLO said it is therefore : “of prime importance to note that our country was founded on love, peace, unity, tolerance,mutual respect , peaceful and harmonious coexistence , socio-economic justice, equity, equality, preservation of human rights and dignity of human persons”.
Continuing the rights group said:It is noteworthy that the most essence of every government is for protection of lives and properties of her citizens, hence it remains a cardinal aim of every government”.
The group pleaded with President Tinubu to direct his Minister of Agriculture to device strategic means of reducing prizes of food stuff and essential services to ameliorate excruciating sufferings of citizens as a result of astrological increase in prices of goods and services.
“As a democrat and apostle of June 12 struggle the president should strive to wipe out high rate of poverty and unemployment in the country by introducing empowerment scheme targeted directly for vulnerable Nigerians.
The group equally said President Tinubu should in addressing the case of Nnamdi Kanu, incarcerated leader of Indigenous People of Biafra ( Biafra) by granting him unconditional release as an independence gift to the people of Southeast, stressing that this would help douse political tensions, insecurity, youth restiveness in the region.
The group said this would also engrave the President’s name in the hearts and minds of Nigerians, especially the people of South East of Nigeria.
