COCIN suspends all activities to curb spread of COVID 19

For the time being, the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) which is headquartered in Jos, Plateau State has suspended all church activities to curb the spread  of the deadly coronavirus disease.

The Secretary General of the Church, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo stated  this in a circular, addressed to all Churches and Secretariat staff and also directed that all Sunday services are inclusive.

However, Sunday Services could hold at the Zonal Fellowship Centers or Prayer Houses and cells that would not house more than 50 people in attendance.

The Headquarters, he said, will run essential services within the period that has been announced by the Government, while the finance Department will run skeletal Services, as well as Church Security and Hospitals’ staff would be at their duty posts.

It stated, “Sunday Services will be carried out at Zonal Fellowship Centers or Prayer Houses and cells, where you have more than 50 members at the prayer house and cells, it should be split into more cells.

“All Services (Bible Studies, Midweek Prayers) shall be supervised and coordinated by the Pastors and Ordained Pastors/Elders.

The circular further directs that “Churches should make provision for hand sanitizers at strategic places within church premises and all major gathering by Church Groups are hereby suspended”

It further instruct that “All Pastors should work with their medical Committees in Education, Prevention and identifying/referring members who may show symptoms of the disease.

“In an event that there is no medical committee, this should be constituted.”
