Community award: Barrister Magaji acceptance swells in Kana community, other contestants absent

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Senate ambition of Barrister Labaran Shuiabu Magaji continue to swell in numbers as his presence in most occasions records mass attention from the electorates.

At an award event organised by Kana community of Agwada Development Area in Kokona local government council of Nasarawa State over ten sons and daughters of the area and others around the state were conferred with awards for their contribution towards the development of the area.

The honour was bestowed on the awardees on Saturday at Kana where the Director General of NYSC, Major-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, Associate Professor and Attorney-General of Nasarawa State, Barrister Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, DG Matawalen Toto for Senate 2023, Honourable Yusuf Loko among others were honoured.

Apex News Exclusivegathered that some of the politicians aspiring to be elected into various positions including the Senate, House of Representatives, state house of assembly were absent making the aspiration of Barrister Labaran Magaji chances more feasible as his supporters stole the show with their red-coloured T-shirt and caps uniforms.

In a goodwill message, Barrister Magaji, a federal prosecutor in the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, who is aspiring for the Senate under the APC, said what was witnessed in Kana was more of a challenge to many to imbibe same and become examplary, especially the younger ones growing up to become subject of emulation by all.

“This event is one if permitted I will say it is an event of many are called, few are chosen. When the invitation got to me from Baba Kana, I did not hesitate but abandoned all my engagements to be here because Baba Kana has been my guide and I derived the inspiration to study law from Kana community.

“Giving my pedigree and the singular advised from one of your own, I stand today to declare that through the instrumentality of that advice, I am fit to wear the shoes of the Adawaju of Afo land to representing the good people of Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the floor of the national Assembly,” Magaji posited.

Speaking in a separate interview, the Director General of NYSC, Major-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, represented by the Director, Planning and Statistics, Ahmed Wada Ikala, expressed profound gratitude with the organisers and the good people of Kana for considering his modest contribution in the service of the nation and in the development bof the area.

He added that the award will spur him more to rendering selfless service to all Nigerians stating that NYSC today has been redefined and more proactive.

Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Senator Abdullahi Adamu represented by Naval Commandor Yahaya Awuna (rtd) congratulated the sons and daughters of Kana, saying they are the signposts of education and knowledge of Afo nation.

He said in Afo nation, the people are reaching what can be best described as severance from the old tradition to the new one in terms of knowledge and socialisation but in all sphere of life, therefore there shouldn’t be discontinuity in the way Afo children are trained in their various homes.
