A Nigerian who insisted his name must not be disclosed has constructed and donated 100 quality desks to four government and private secondary schools in Calabar, Cross River State capital.
His intervention came when the media was awash with reports about how students in the schools, particularly a government school in Ikot Ansa in Calabar Municipality, were bereft of desks and other equipment exposing them to severe inconveniences.
A journalist and activist, Agba Jalingo had championed public campaign to mobilize support for the affected schools.
Head Teacher of Government Primary School Ikot Effanga, Calabar Municipality, Mrs. Eunice Ebong received 30 desks on behalf of the school today.
The other 70 were also shared to Government Primary School, Esuk Otu, Calabar Municipality which received 20 desks.
Ironbar Primary School, Atu Street, Calabar South, got 25 desks.
Government Primary School, Obufa Esuk, Calabar South got 25 desks also.
Each desk is expected to seat three pupils.
According to Jalingo, the project is expected to continue as they will be asking the public for help too.

Emphasising particularly about the Ikot Ansa school, Jalingo said it is a big school containing primary and secondary, yet they do not have a single toilet.
“A female teacher who had running stomach and was trying to rush back home to relieve herself ended up messing up her clothes in the car recently”, a fellow teacher narrated.
