Coronavirus forces popular Mangu market observe half day

The popular Friday market in Mangu, the headquarters of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State will be observed half day because of Coronavirus pandemic.

The market which is popular for its grains and Irish potato, attracts traders from across Nigeria and beyond.

According  to a “special attention” announcement from the authorities of the council,  the decision was in line with the directives of the state government.

The announcement signed by Opiah O. Valentine, Head of Information and Public Relations, henceforth only traders selling food items and pharmaceutical stores are allowed to operate within towns, villages and markets in the area.

He said, “by this announcement, trading activities in Mangu Friday market which will be only for food items will commence in the morning and end by 12noon.

“Consequently, all shop owners in the streets, towns and villages within the area are to comply with the restriction order and lockup their business premises please.”
