Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria declares zero tolerance for foul practices

Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria has said it would not condole any form of foul practice in the engineering profession across the nation and 36 states of the federation in particular.

Engineer Ali Rabiu, the president of COREN, made the statement during the inauguration of the Nasarawa state edifice in Lafia, the state capital on Thursday.

He said the aim of having their office here was to bring its services the Nasarawa state government and the people of the state for defined effectiveness is being achieved.

According to him, the executive order 5 recently signed by Major Gen. (retd), president Muhammad Buhari would go a long way in actualizing the advocacy if effectively implemented.

He, however, admonished all engineering across the nation to always be in their best adding that they always leave above board and be worthy ambassadors of COREN in Nasarawa state.

His words: “I therefore, urged you to always be in your best in project delivery. The ERM will not tolerate any form of foul practice in the discharge of your duty.”

Rabiu said that in 2018, the national assembly strengthened the power of COREN by amending its Act, saying the renewed powers widen the scope of ERM which led COREN to Nasarawa state in July 2020.

He then applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing the land for the building of the edifice in the state.

Earlier, while inaugurating the engineering edifice, Governor Abdullahi Sule said the state donated the land for the construction of the Secretariat complex of the considering the significant his administration attaches to the engineering profession.

He maintained that it is in furtherance of collective commitment aiming at stimulating the development of engineering in the state as fulcrum for meaningful development, adding that this prompted the decision for the state.

His words: “Let me commend the COREN for this laudable project, aimed at providing conducive working environment for the council in order to enhance efficiency in the delivery of service in the state.

Sule urged the citizen of the state to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by this engineering complex to engage in a meaningful ventures that add value to their lives and become self reliance and employer of labour in the state.
