Fake Kiwi products worth over N80million found to be imported into Nigeria have been destroyed on the orders of an Awka Federal High Court.

Prior to the enforcement, a Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State presided over by Justice Bature Gafai, delivered the judgement on April 18, 2019.
The products were contained in six lorry loads in cartons with over 500, 000 tins.
The court with the help of the police, other law enforcement agencies and the Standard Organization of Nigeria tested the products and declared them as fake, after which, they were confiscated.
The judgement was on seven persons from different company names.
The enforcement team took off from the Federal High Court, Awka where the goods were unloaded to the waiting trucks for onward conveyance to the outskirt of the town where they were set on fire.
Addressing the press shortly after the exercise, Barrister Tagbo Anaeto, Counsel to Asco Limited, a company with franchise to import the Kiwi brand, said that they obtained a court order to prosecute the matter which led to the court victory.
He added the company will hopefully continue to win the fight against people faking their products.
The Managing Director of Asco Limited, Chief Sam Anyanwutaku, thanked the Court for ruling in their favour, appreciated law enforcement agencies and the media for their help in the fight against fake products.
While thanking the government for their efforts through regulatory bodies such as SON, NAFDAC and others, he decried the amount of money and stress he puts into the struggle trying to eliminate such fake products from the public space.
