Civil Servants in Anambra State gave total compliance to the Governor Willie Obiano work from home order, as part of measures to contend the coronavirus pandemic.
This was discovered when our correspondent visit Jerome Udeoji Secretariat, Awka, to monitor level of compliance by the workers to the new order which came into effect on Tuesday.
On arrival, our correspondent saw that the Secretariat is under lock and key, and men of the police force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were seen making sure that it is only workers on essential dutes were allowed into the premises.
Speaking on the development, a civil servant working with the State Ministry of Housing, Mr. Vincent Iluno, described the work from home order by the Governor as a welcomed development, saying that if the federal government had earlier taken such action, Nigeria would not have recorded any case of the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr. Iluno who testified that he has already commenced implementation of the regular hand washing with soap in his house, called on other households to follow suit as it is for their own safety.
Contributing, Mrs. Carol Ikeabbah while commending the Governor on the order, called on people to adhere strictly to the preventive measures against the covid-19 which she said is not a disease to play with because of its speedy mode of spread.
