As part of ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has concluded his Election Security Advocacy Tour with officers and men of the Awka Area Command.
The meeting, held on November 1, 2025, at the Area Command Headquarters, marked the final leg of a statewide sensitization and capacity-building exercise aimed at strengthening officers’ readiness for credible and professional election security operations.
In his address, CP Orutugu commended officers for their discipline, dedication, and professionalism throughout the advocacy campaign, which covered all Area Commands and Divisions across the State.
He reiterated the importance of neutrality, professionalism, and respect for human rights during election duties.
Reassuring residents of the command’s preparedness, the Commissioner affirmed that robust security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the polls.
He disclosed that tactical units, intelligence teams, and patrol formations are on heightened alert, backed by adequate logistics and coordinated support from other security agencies.
CP Orutugu further charged officers to remain vigilant, courageous, and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, ensuring peace and order throughout the electoral process.
He also appealed to members of the public to stay law-abiding and security-conscious, assuring them of continued collaboration between the police, communities, and stakeholders to guarantee a peaceful and credible election in Anambra State.
