The Mbume blocs of clans in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River  State have rejected Ntufam Anthony Ntui -Etta as their acting paramount ruler.

The traditional rulers in the local government area equally opposed his  legitimacy.

This was contained in their resolutions released at the end of an emergency town hall meeting held at Abia community.

They indicated that the prefix ‘acting paramount ruler’ was strange to the Cross River State Traditional Edict 14 of  1978.

The Mbume traditional rulers compromising of Abia, Bendeghe Ekiem and Etomi as well as six monarchs of the blocs of clans, signed the resolution.

They urged the Ajassor monarch, HRM, Ntufam Anthony Ntui -Etta, to refrain from parading himself as acting paramount ruler as they do not recognizes him, except Ntufam Dr Oru Ojong of Abia community in the local government.

It would be recalled that Ntufam Dr. Oru Ojong, was suspended sometimes ago, but has been reinstated via a court process in suit No: suit No. HC/96/2022 of March 23, 2023.

“We have resolved to denounce and shun Clan Head, Anthony Ntui Etta of Ajassor Community in Etung local government area with immediate effect.

“He is not our paramount ruler. Dr Oru Ojong of Abia community remains our paramount ruler”, the resolution stated.

Reacting, Ntufam Anthony Ntui -Etta, said, “I am not an acting paramount ruler, I am paramount ruler-elect of Etung. I don’t know what prompted them to do so. That is their own issue.

“I won two of the members of Mbume Blocks of Clans in a contest,” he said.
