The acting chairman of Bekwara Local Government Area in Cross River State, Egbung Odama, has expressed deep concern over the extensive looting that has left the once-thriving Brick Block Factory completely stripped and abandoned.

Odama noticed the pilfering when he visited the factory as part of Jo’s facility tour of the Council area over the weekend.

The brick factory is located within the staff quarters premises.

He expressed regret at the loss of such a critical asset which establishment was well intended for the development of the Council area.

Odama was optimistic that the factory will be refurbished.

At the Youth Resource Center/Civic Center, the Acting Chairman instructed that urgent measures be put in place to revive the sporting and recreational activities within the Sports Pavilion.

At the Ugidi Market, he also instructed that the motor park be decongestant to allow for more cars into the park, saying this will avoid blockade at the highway during market days.

Odama cautioned against emptying wastes into drainage and directed that a proper drainage plan be designed to arrest the large volume of water affecting the New Junction.

This way, he assured that  the persistent problem of water logging on the highway, will be solved.

He told his officials that all efforts must be made to avoid total loss of critical public assets including the staff quarters.

Odama expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the Councillors’ and other officials’ offices, as many doors were hanging without locks as well as lack of functional toilet facilities.
