Cross River Deputy Governor remembers nonagenarian cleric who paid his fees

The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Peter Odey has visited a Catholic Parish in Odajie community in Mbube area of Ogoja Local Government Area of the state where Rev. Jake Otonco who paid his school fees to appreciate him.
The visit was one the visits conducted by the deputy governor to mark New Year’s Day in his home town, Ogoja.
Odey testified that the Rev. Otonco who has served 35 years in the priesthood, was instrumental in his personal and professional growth.
He said it was the priest who supported his post graduate studies at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
In recognition of this early assistance, the Deputy Governor gifted the priest a car and made a donation towards the church building.
Odey also paid a surprised visit to one of the oldest citizens in the Ogoja, Chief Julius Abua Abang, to celebrate his 90th birthday.

The nonagenarian is a respected community leader in Mbube, and the father of one time Attorney General of the State, Barr. Joe Oshie Abang.
The Deputy Governor praised Chief Abang’s reputation and longevity, expressing joy at seeing the nonagenarian surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
When he called on the Paramount Ruler of Ogoja, HRM, Oti Mathias Odey Abua to celebrate the season with him, Odey donated some food items and cash, expressing appreciation for his supports and leadership.
The Paramount Ruler expressed joy and gratitude for having the state’s second-in-command celebrate with him in turn presented some fat yams.
The monarch lamented that if tradition had not forbidden it, he could have danced to show his joy.
He prayed that God will protect him and grant success throughout Odey’s time in government.
