Cross River LG chairmen vow to raise bar of healthcare delivery, security

Local Government Areas chairmen who were elected on Saturday 2nd November 2024 in Cross River State have said they will give priority to security and improve healthcare delivery in their different Councils during their tenure.

Each of the 18 LGA bosses spoke when they had a session with the deputy governor Dr Peter Odey in Calabar after they were sworn in by the state governor a day before.

Chairman of Ogoja LGA, Hon. Chris Agbeh, said he will place emphasis on entrepreneurship and healthcare delivery to ameliorate the lives of the people. 

He explained that focus on primary healthcare of the people, especially the women will enliven local activities and happiness.

Chairperson of lkom Local Government Area,  Mrs Mercy Nsor, said she was poised to reinforce healthcare, attend to the people’s needs and ensure the development of the Council. 

On his part thr Mayor of Calabar Municipality, James Anam, said he was not only set to return Calabar metropolis to the clean city that it should be, but will install streetlights in the areas where they are needed.

Anam said he will also open up streets that have been inaccessible for years. 

The Chairman added that to secure the projects, the traditional rulers, youths and members of the community will be involved and made to see the projects as theirs. 

Addressing the 18 Council chairmen, deputy governor Odey charged them, as Chief Security Officers of their respective local government areas to prioritize security, provision of basic social amenities and rural development as well as the overall welfare of their residents.
