National Association of Proprietors of Private  Schools, (NAPPS),  Cross River State has accused its president, Comrade Mike Egre of financial impropriety and asked him to resign.

The Association has demanded him to give detailed statement of account for nine years, charging him to explain how he ran the Association for the period without visible progress.

In their public statement, they have insisted on immediate constitution of transition committee that will help in the Conduct of the  association free and fair elections to produce another chairman acceptable by all.

The position paper was signed by five stakeholders, who included the representative of of Ogoja Zone, Elder Ignatius Ejim, representative of Ikom LGA, Dr. Ramsey Ndep, representative of Càlabar zone, Elder Edet Obot, Secretary General NAPPS, South South, Mike Abolade.

The stakeholders stated that the tenure of incumbent Chairman had since elapsed in May 2023, adding that they have lost confidence in him. They therefore asked for his resignation.

“We lack total confidence in the members of  State Electoral Commission (SECOM), as we have seen the embattled  Chairman of SECOM openly campaigning for some candidates,” it said.

Reacting, the embattled Egre denied all the accusations, adding that he is ready to leave office once his tenure elapses, or before that time.

“All those who signed that document are not our members. I know my members; they are all hired to fight me”, he maintained.
