Cross River State government has declared its intention to demand two members of the National Assembly who abandoned road repairs contract after being paid, to return to site.

Commissioner for works in the state, Engr. Dane Osim-Asu who disclosed this to Daily Trust named Prof Sandy Onor, the Senator representing the Cross River central District and Dr Alex Egbonna, the member representing the ABI/Yakurr federal constituency in the House of Representatives as some of those political dignitaries whom Governor Ben Ayade was benevolent to but failed to execute the contracts.

He said the projects were given to them when the governor was still in PDP as a way of recompensing them for their contributions so far to the state and his success as governor.

“The governor extended his hand of friendship to the two when he was still in PDP and as indIgenes of the state who have also contributed. But no sooner the contract sums were released to them than they abandoned the road construction works in their own areas.

“The state will ensure that they are brought back to sites in order for them to resume work and complete the he community roads for the people.”

The commissioner also disclosed that out of 44 road projects they initiated six years ago when Governor Ayade assumed power, they have so far completed and commissioned 22 across local communities in he state, including dualised ones and fixed all potholes.

Reacting, Senator Sandy Onor challenges them to show proof of any contracts they awarded him.

“They’re playing cheap. They know they have no legitimacy to hold on to power. The people will soon show them the way out. I challenge them to bring out any proofs”, he stressed.
