Delta 2024: Over 200 Bauchi athletes, technical officials storm Jalingo for North East zonal elimination

In preparation for September 2024 National Youths Games in Asaba, Delta State, Bauchi State Contingents storms Jalingo the headquarters of Taraba State with over 222 athletes and technical officials for North East Zonal Elimination.

The team Bauchi which depart on Wednesday under the delegation of the State Director of Sports Coach Usman Yusuf, will be competing in eight events that includes football, basketball for male and female, handball for male and female, Volleyball for male and emale and Rugby.

Other events are Beach Volleyball, Cricket and Abula teams.

It was gathered that two teams from each sporting event will qualify to represent the zone at National Youths Games in Asaba Delta State.

The Six competing states in the North East are Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states.

Speaking to sports journalists before departing Bauchi, the State Director of
Sports Coach Usman Yusuf, expressed optimism that his athletes are ready for the competition and assured that as usual Bauchi will capture all the eight events that will be competing for.

He said “I have confidence in my athletes and i know how much i invested in training them for so long with good welfare package to motivate them just in preparation for this events to give me result that will enable me participate at the National Youths Games come next month September”.

Coach Usman Yusuf used this opportunity to thank Senator Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State for developing keen and special interest in the development of Sports in the State saying without his moral and financial support we would not have achieve what we achieved today in sports that revived the name of Bauchi as Mecca of Sports in Nigeria.

The Director of Sports also expressed his gratitude to the State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Hon. Salis Gamawa for his support and understanding that enabled him and his colleagues at the sports council achieved the successes recorded during period under review of Governor Bala Mohammed administration in Bauchi State.

Promising to continue reciprocating the good gesture of the state government by winning more glories to the State to fulfill the dream of Governor Bala Mohammed of rebuilding the good name of Bauchi in Sports.
