Disease control centre, hypo home sensitise on Lassa Fever in Anambra

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) in collaboration with Hypo Home Care Products Limited have embarked on a sensitization campaign against the outbreak of Lassa fever across major markets, and cities in Anambra State.

The exercise centered on the preventive measures, targeted at ensuring zero case of the virus in the state, is in line with the Anambra State government’s effort to protect the citizenry against the virus.

The enlightenment campaign kicked off at Afor Agulu, where a large number of market men and women received lectures on the best practices as regards to keeping a clean household after which they received free carrier bags containing hypo products and fliers to educate them more on Lassa fever preventive measures.

The exercise also featured distribution of the educative fliers through Eke-Awka, down to Onitsha and other major cities of the State.

Addressing the gathering at Afor-Agulu, the Hypo Home Care Products, South East Two Area Manager, Mr. Francis Ifeanyichukwu noted that it was the primary intention of the company to always promote hygiene and maintain healthy lifestyle, hence the reason they are partnering with NCDC to fight and protect Ndi Anambra against the epidermic.

He added that although the aim was to augment the effort of the State government in that area, it was also part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to contribute positively to the growth and development of the society where they operates.

Earlier, an Environmental Health Officer in Anaocha Council Area Mrs. Beatrice Anene harped on the need for everyone to improve on their personal hygiene.

She demonstrated and exposed the gathering on the best practices towards maintaining a clean and safe environment, in other to keep rodents away from homes as well as proper use of hypo to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.

Mrs. Grace Anene who benefited from the free lectures and gift, commended the initiative, saying that such grassroot sensitization program will be of great impact.
