The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has announced that the second Domestic Gas and Gas Infrastructure Summit (DGGIS) would hold between October 24th and 25th, this year at the Abuja Trade and Convention Center, Abuja.
President, ACCI, Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar who announced in a press conference on Friday at the chamber’s headquarters, also said that the summit would bring together stakeholders in the energy and business sectors to discuss countless topics in the Gas sector.
According to Abubakar, the second edition of the DGGIS with the theme, “Building a Sustainable, Resilient Gas, and Renewable Energy Sector in Nigeria and Beyond” was a build on the inaugural edition, known as the Domestic Gas Summit which took place last year.
He said that the change of name to DGGIS was based on feedback from the industry, adding that DGGIS has consistently delivered on its promise to promote the critical discussion of various issues centred on rejuvenating the Nigerian gas industry.
The ACCI president emphasised that its primary objective was to enhance both domestic gas utilization and the infrastructure needed to make the Nigerian gas industry globally competitive.

He stated that globally, natural gas has already replaced coal as the fuel of choice for electricity production, with climate and air quality benefits, adding that the rapid decrease in the cost of solar, wind and other renewable energy technologies has made these an even better alternative than gas in many locations.
Abubakar stressed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration unalloyed commitment to leveraging on the domestic utilization, processing and international export of Nigeria’s massive gas resources as a transition fuel to catalyze the fundamental restructuring of the nation’s economy for expansive growth.
He reaffirmed the President’s unalloyed commitment to swiftly remove all incumbrances to the entrepreneurial progress and development of Nigeria’s industrious citizens, as well as any further impediments to business practice in the Oil and Gas sector, so as to create more opportunities for Nigerian companies and international partners to thrive.
He added that, Tinubu has already affirmed the position of natural gas as Nigeria’s gateway to sustainable development and prosperity with a pledge to build a partnership with investors that would guarantee job opportunities and skill development for Nigerian youths in the overriding best interest of the oil and gas-producing environments.
On his part, the Chairman, ACCI Energy Trade Group, Chinedu Maduakoh who highlighted the importance of the summit, stated that the annual event was organised by the Energy Trade Group of the ACCI with a focus on promoting local content, fostering a friendly business environment through government liaisons, and organizing seminars and workshops, to ensure that the benefits of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria extend throughout the nation.
