Donkey-Farm CEO wants FG /NASS to make law discouraging killing of Donkeys

The Federal Government and National Assembly has been urged to make a law that would regulate breeding and killing of donkeys in Nigeria.

This was an appeal made by Mr Sunday Chidebe Nnabike the Chief Executive Officer of Emmalex Global Farms, on Monday where he stated the economic and medicinal value of rearing donkeys.

Mr Sunday who lamented the ill treatment given to donkeys, added that the animal has great economic and medical values that should be preserved for value chain international business .

He said Donkey Farmers Association of Nigeria(DFAN) has fast expanded by branching in Five Northern States which includes Yobe, Nasarawa, Jigawa , Sokoto and Gombe states, where the ranches are fitted with facilities aim at breeding the animals in the most hygienic way.

“We are committed to doing this business not for consumption purposes alone, but because the donkey skin is highly appreciated at the international community, especially in China where I visited sometimes and was inspired to embark on Donkey skin importation.

“In places like Kenya, where they have the largest numbers of donkeys, they don’t killed their donkeys , this is why we are appealing to both the Federal Government and the National Assembly to make a law that can regulate donkey Killing in Nigeria .

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the Federal Ministry for Agriculture and it agency in Zaria who have once visited us and saw our commitment to breeding these animals , which they have also been very encouraging to us. So we are passionate about the business and willing to expand it across Nigeria states to create employment opportunity to our teaming youths” He said.

The CEO Emmalex Global Farms also thank the Nasarawa State Government for supporting them to do the business in the state, without challenges since the establishment of the farm in the State.
